You want to keep your liver and kidneys in tip top shape since they're the organs responsible for filtering and eliminating toxins from your body,. A healthy diet filled with a variety of fruits, veggies, whole grains and healthy proteins is a good start. But some fruits and veggies, and their juices, contain nutrients that may be especially helpful for liver and kidney health. However, it’s important to note that despite the claims, there’s no evidence that juicing or juice fasting improves the elimination of toxins from your body.

Orange Juice

You’re already on your way to keeping your liver and kidneys healthy if orange juice makes a regular appearance in your diet. Orange juice is a good source of potassium, meeting more than 10 percent of the daily value. High blood pressure is one of the primary causes of kidney problems, and high-potassium diet is associated with better blood pressure. As an antioxidant, the vitamin C in a cup of orange juice -- 140 percent of the daily value -- protects your liver cells from toxic substances.

Cranberry Juice

This tart juice may be best known as the juice you drink when you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). Studies show that drinking cranberry juice helps prevent recurrence of UTIs, which decreases the likelihood of a kidney infection. Like orange juice, cranberry juice is also a good source of vitamin C that helps keep your liver safe from toxic substances. Additionally, cranberry juice is rich in proanthocyanidins, which are also powerful antioxidants that offer protection against molecules that can damage cells throughout the body, including cells in the liver and kidneys.

Beet Juice

If you prefer a vegetable juice, beet juice makes a good choice for liver and kidney health. Like the fruit juice, the root juice is rich in potassium, vitamin C and antioxidants. The antioxidants offer protection for the liver against inflammation and harmful free radicals. Regular consumption of beet juice may also increase the enzymes in your liver that are responsible for detoxification. And as a potassium-rich juice, it’s good for keeping blood pressure in check for kidney health. Mix beet juice with apple or carrot juice if you’re having a tough time with the taste.

Fresh Juice Made With Cruciferous Veggies

Cruciferous vegetables, which includes broccoli, mustard greens, spinach and kale, are rich in a number of phytochemicals that keep your liver and kidneys healthier. The substances in these veggie juices may improve detoxification enzyme levels in your liver and protect the cells in both your liver and kidneys from damage. These veggie juices also assist in reduction of inflammation.
