Depending on your schedule, you may wake up at a different time from the general population. I've carried out a survey outlining what time most people wake up in the morning. I'll be revealing the results in this article. I'll also discuss the ideal time to wake up in the morning.

The Survey Results

While the snooze button seems to be people's best friend throughout America, my study actually revealed that most people wake up pretty earlier.

Here are the results.

4:00 AM - 5:00 AM (5%)

5:00 AM - 6:00 AM (14%)

6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (22%)

7:00 AM - 8:00 AM (21%)

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM (12%)

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM (5%)

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (5%)

As you can see, people start waking up between 4:00 AM - 5:00 AM. As the hours go by, this number increases, with the majority of people getting up between 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM (22%).

By 11 AM, most people have woken up and started their days.

The Type Of People Who Wake Up Late

When looking at people who roll out of bed halfway through the day, the demographic normally consists of younger people who stay awake and watch movies all night. There are also individuals who work night shifts and like to sleep throughout the day.

When Should You Wake Up

Although most people would love nothing more than to hit the snooze button every day, there's actually evidence that suggests waking up early is beneficial for us.

What benefits, you might ask!? The most prominent is that you feel more productive throughout the day. There's nothing that screams unmotivated as much as lying in bed all day, right!?

One study found that children who wake up earlier are more productive throughout the day. But does the same apply to adults!? Absolutely! Don't believe me? If you're a late riser, try going to bed and waking up earlier, and let me know how much more you get done. Furthermore, waking up early may prevent the morning traffic jam. This is going to help reduce your stress levels first thing in the morning, setting the pace for the day ahead.

Final Verdict

According to my survey, most people (22%) wake up between 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM. If you wake up past 10:00 AM, I recommend going to bed and waking up earlier, as it's going to help with productivity levels throughout the day. And if you're lucky, you'll miss the morning traffic.

Sleep recommendations by age group. Age Group Recommended Hours of Sleep Per Day Newborn 0–3 months 14–17 hours (National Sleep Foundation)1 Although the amount of sleep you get each day is important, other aspects of your sleep also contribute to your health and well-being. Good sleep quality is also essential. Signs of poor sleep quality include not feeling rested even after getting enough sleep, repeatedly waking up during the night, and experiencing symptoms of sleep disorders (such as snoring or gasping for air). Improving sleep quality may be helped by better sleep habits or being diagnosed and treated for any sleep disorder you may have.
