We all know that Vitamin C is essential for immune health. Our bodies are not able to make it on their own so we must take it in via our diet and/or supplementation. If possible we always think that supplementing should come from natural sources like food or herbs. Here are the top five herbs we offer that are high in Vitamin C and how to use them!

1. Rosehips

Rosehips are the fruit produced from wild roses and are one of the most concentrated sources of bioavailable Vitamin C. We offer rosehips three ways.

Whole to use in teas.

Cut/sifted to be used in teas.

Powdered to use in smoothies or be mixed with honey to make Vit C pills.

2. Orange Peel

We all know that citrus is a great source of Vit C, but did you know the peel has the greatest concentration? Eating fresh orange peel is not ideal, so try using it dried in a tea. To extract the most Vitamin C put 1 tsp of dried orange peel into a couple cups of water and simmer for at least 20 min. This makes a decoction and is much more medicinal than a tea. Lemon peel can also be used in the same way.

3. Red Raspberry Leaves

One of the best known herbs for women’s health, red raspberry leaves also have Vit C making it a great choice for immune health as well. It can be used in a tea, tincture, and even taken in capsule form.

4. Hibiscus Flowers

Hibiscus Flowers are rich in antioxidants including an abundance Vitamin C! They make an absolutely delicious and brightly colored tea that kids especially love.

5. Paprika

Paprika is in the nightshade family. The peppers from the plant are dried, cured, and ground. It can be used in so many different savory dishes. We love it in taco meat, on eggs, or in soups. Bonus! Two tea blends that we offer that are ready to brew and full of Vitamin C.
