If a softer metal such as a ring or key marks the surface, it is possible some of this metal may have been left on the PVD coated surface. In this case use a soft cloth and mild, non-acidic cleaner to remove the soft metal deposit. DO NOT use abrasive materials, files, or other hard objects against the PVD coated stainless steel surface. DO NOT use bleach, caustic, or acid-based cleaning materials or detergents containing chloride, or any other strong household cleaning products. DO NOT use oily rags or greasy cloths when wiping the product surface. Rubbing or wiping should be carried out in the direction of the polish lines, not across them. Wash periodically using a soft cloth and mild soapy water and then dry immediately with a clean, soft cloth. PVD coatings may fingerprint so we suggest handling the product with clean gloves or cloths to guard against stains fingerprints. Fingerprints can be removed by washing product with a mild soap and water solution, then dried. Avoid applying aerosol sunscreen while drinkware or serveware is nearby as it may cause discoloration or haze. Avoid contact with sunscreen; always wash hands after applying sunscreen before using your drinkware or serveware. If serving citrus products, wash and rinse thoroughly after use to prevent discoloration.

To maintain clarity, avoid using citric-based detergents as they may cause discoloration.

Remove odors by rubbing with table salt and half a lemon, let sit for 2-3 minutes, then wipe clean with damp cloth. Wipe with warm water before using the first time; use a wet cloth to wipe and clean after use. Glass mugs are intended for warm beverages, not for hot beverages (i.e. do not pour coffee or tea directly from a pot or instant one-cup brewing machine).

Do lift and carry glass items by the bottoms or sides.

Do not pick large glass items by the rim (especially home décor and bubble balls).

Do not carry mulitple glasses at the same time by the rims.

It’s also important to handle your glassware items properly to prevent mechanical shock, which is a minute abrasion in the glass that causes weakness and makes it more susceptible to breakage from impact or thermal shock. Do not place cold or chilled bake dish into the oven or microwave; dish should be at room temperature. Do not place a warm bake dish containing leftovers into the fridge; dish should be at room temperature. Do not remove a glass bake dish from the oven and place on a cold countertop; always use hot pads. Allow glassware to reach room temperature before washing (by hand or in dishwasher). Only expose your glassware item to higher or lower temperature when it is already at room temperature.

Glassware

All Libbey glass cookware products contain small amounts of added elements or compounds of Selenium and Cobalt. These are required additives, only a few parts per million, to ensure Libbey glass products maintain consistent color and clarity. As glass ingredients are melted together, they create a new material that does not separate into the original ingredients. Libbey has conducted leach tests on its glassware products and find no measurable amounts of either element migrating from the glassware.

Metals

Libbey is proud to procure products to support kitchen and dining room needs, including serve ware and tabletop items. Some metal items may be considered cookware under the strictest interpretation of the law and therefore are included in this disclosure. All food contact metal products Libbey sells comply with FDA GRAS requirements. However, many naturally occurring metal elements, such as iron, nickel, and chromium, make up food grade stainless steel and are included in the Candidate Chemical List. Libbey metal cookware, which includes pots, pans, bowls, and cooking utensils may contain the following products found on California’s Candidate Chemical List: Aluminum, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Molybdenum, Nickel, Phosphorus, Sulpharic Compound, and Zinc.

Furthermore, all silver-plated cookware contains silver.

Ceramics

To compliment Libbey’s portfolio, Libbey sells ceramic dinnerware which in certain shapes, may be considered cookware as defined by the Cookware Act. Specifically, Libbey sells trays, bowls, skillets, and crocks. Most of the added chemicals which are outlined in the Candidate Chemical List and as called out below, appear on decorated trays and bowls. In all cases, the quantity of chemicals added to the ceramics comply with the Safe Harbor levels outlined in Proposition 65 and meet all FDA requirements to be food safe. The list of chemicals that may appear in our dinnerware are: Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Cobalt Oxide, Cobalt Sulfate, Lead, Nickel, Nickel Oxide, Selenium Sulfide, Titanium Dioxide, Alumina, Kaolin, Feldspar, Quartz, Triazine, Triamine Polymer with Formaldehyde, Cellulose, Benzoaic Acid, Zinc Stearate.

All Other Products

Libbey wood products are naturally occurring woods, which are stained with products that meet food safety requirements once the stain is dry. The potentially added chemicals are Toluene, Isobutanol, Ethyl Acetate and 2-butoxyethanol (Anti-Whitewater). Libbey melamine products contain melamine and may contain formaldehyde. Melamine products comply with Proposition 65 and FDA food safe requirements.

If you have any questions about the disclosure above, please contact compliance_requests@libbey.com.
