Sweet Potatoes and Yams: Phytoestrogenic Suppor

Sweet potatoes promote productive bacteria in the stomach, small intestine, and colon, while at the same time, they starve out unproductive bacteria and fungi such as mold. By keeping these microbes at bay, sweet potatoes help enhance the body’s production of B12. Sweet potatoes help prevent megacolon, which is an expansion of the colon due to proliferation of C. difficile, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, E. coli, H. pylori, Chlamydia, and/or other bacteria. Plus, they help alleviate narrowing of the intestinal tract due to the chronic inflammation that’s so commonly diagnosed as Crohn’s or colitis. Orange-fleshed sweet potatoes are packed with carotenoids such as beta-carotene and lycopene. If you are fair and eat a sweet potato daily, before long you’ll see your skin take on a glow, as if it’s been sun-kissed. The lycopene, combined with sweet potatoes’ abundant amino acids, helps draw radiation from the body. Sweet potatoes are phytoestrogenic and help rid the body of unusable, destructive, cancer-causing estrogen that interferes with the body’s hormone function. These estrogens come from plastics, pharmaceuticals, food, and environmental toxins, as well as from the body producing an overabundance of the hormone (due to a diet high in estrogen-producing foods). By purging this excess estrogen, sweet potatoes make room for healthier estrogens to take their place. Sweet potatoes help regulate hair growth. And if you struggle with insomnia or another sleeping disorder, sweet potatoes provide a critical form of glucose that stimulates the development of neurotransmitters such as glycine, dopamine, GABA, and serotonin, all of which aid in the ability to sleep soundly.

How To Use:

Whether you like orange, yellow, white, pink, or purple sweet potatoes, eat up. Each type holds medicinal qualities. Steamed sweet potatoes (or in soups, stews or stir-fries) hold the most healing properties. Can you be intolerant to brussel sprouts?

Despite the immense benefits Brussels sprouts offer, some people can have adverse reactions to the vegetable. The immune system can mistakenly identify Brussels sprouts as dangerous and, in turn, create immunoglobulin E antibodies (IgE) in an attempt to protect itself from this “dangerous” food.

This IgE allergy test uses a blood sample to determine if you are allergic to Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprout plant belong to the cabbage family and range in color from light green to deep grayish-green, and with round to heart-shaped leaves. The sprouts are modified leaves forming “heads" that look like tiny cabbages. Many rows of sprouts grow on a single long stalk. Brussels sprouts are available canned, frozen or fresh, and are most often boiled or steamed and served as a side dish. They are high in vitamins A and C, and are a fairly good source of iron. The test will look to identify these antibodies in order to determine if an individual is allergic to Brussels sprouts or not.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction Brussels sprouts may include:

Skin rash

Redness

Swelling

Itching

Headaches

Dizziness

Stomach pain

Runny nose

Difficulty breathing

Major drop in blood pressure

Anaphylaxis (rare but life-threatening allergic reaction)

HealthLabs.com offers an easier, virtually pain-free blood test to determine the allergen status of substances without the irritation of traditional skin prick tests.
